Chuan joined IEN Legal in September 2021 and brings more than 25 years of legal and judicial experience to our law practice.
For over a decade Chuan was a prosecuting lawyer with the Office of the DPP (NSW) and CDPP, including 3 years as a Commonwealth Crown Prosecutor (practising as a barrister) where he conducted jury trials, sentences, and appeals in the State and Federal courts.
In 2008 Chuan was the first Asian-Australian lawyer appointed as a Judicial Registrar with the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court. For 14 years Chuan presided in many bankruptcy law cases.
From 2010 - 2019 Chuan was an Adjunct Lecturer teaching Criminal Law at UNSW Law School.
Chuan is a nationally accredited Mediator, having settled hundreds of disputes in the federal courts as a Registrar Mediator and also in the Fair Work Commission as a Conciliator.
Chuan is also currently the Acting Sheriff of the Supreme Court of Norfolk Island (an Australian external territory).
Chuan’s extensive experience means that he can help provide our clients with criminal law, bankruptcy, employment, and family law advice, and is available to mediate disputes to help parties avoid costly litigation.
